Manet described Las Meninas as “a complete art lesson,” and Picasso’s fifty‑eight reimagining turn that lesson into a kind of engine — proof that repetition and reinterpretation can become a creative force of their own. In an earlier piece of mine, that structure became a way to talk about lineage: the passing of DNA, the loss of a parent, and the emergence of a new generation.

These current works keep that thread going. By weaving in references to Velazquez, Picasso, and Robert Indiana,, I’m thinking about what gets handed down — culturally, artistically, and personally. It’s all part of the same continuum, a long conversation across time that we’re still adding to.
