I have envisioned a protagonist in post apocalypse Paris dragging canvases from the ruins of the Musee d‘Orsay to build a shelter then retreating inside like cave dwellers of the past and trying to make sense of this new world by drawing on the walls.
.
The internal drawings describe a struggle to create order and meaning through spiritual structures which slowly unravel into the mere ramblings of one disintegrating into a state of lunacy.
.
The birth of the work was reading Cormac McCarthy’s dystopian vision “The Road” and his parallel anti western “Blood Meridian”. I tried to approach the work like a novelist getting inside the head of the tent builder and imagining his deteriorating journey, I hope the audience will do the same.
.
Please advance into this dystopia and be seated
